Re integrating hen back onto flock

Ok so a while back my hen was injured. Now either she cut herself (quite badly) on a window or it was the rooster. There was 2 slices the same length and the same width part So I don't really think it was him as the rest of the girls are fine. Now I had to take her and put her in a dog crate in my back bedroom because of course there was hen pecking, and when I tried to early to put her back in the hen house the roo jumped on her and re opened it (he was just doing the mating thing and was not aggressive about it he was jsut holding on). I bring her outside every day with the others. The thing is she runs behind a trailer and pretty much stays there and forages the whole time completely avoiding the flock. I do not know what to do. I don't want to just stuff her n the pen and hope for the best after so much time away. Any tips??

usually if they've been together before it's no issue putting them back together if it hasn't been an extended period of away time. i've took broody hens away from the flock for 3 weeks and never had any issues reintroducing them, recently had a similar issue as you where one of my hens had a huge cut on her side, it was from her wing all the way to the bottom of her thigh, took several stitches to put the wound back together, gave it a spray with blue-kote and after a week put her back in the pen where she came out nobody the wiser.

Ok good. its been 2 weeks and she raised the others since they are just a day or so old. She is the mom. That makes me feel better. i am just gonna give it a few more days till I know she is healed. The thing is she is avoiding them like the plague so I hope she just gets over it. Maybe she is associating the rooster with pain becasue he re opened her wound?

2 weeks can make her a stranger worthy of being attacked.....
....it may take some time with lots of space for her to be able to be part of the flock again.

Would be best if you could put the crate in the coop/run while they are not free ranging, that will speed the re-acquaintance.
