I have a rooster and he is wheezing and his crown is not even red anymore. What could be causing this problem? Please help cause he is like one of my children.

A bit more information would be needed to begin to help you/your rooster. How old is this bird, what breed and how long have you had him? How long has he been having the symptoms you listed and are there other symptoms you are seeing (ie discharge from any part of his body)? Have you recently added any new birds to your flock and, if so, were they quarantined prior to integration into the group? Is your rooster eating, drinking and eliminating normally?

I am thinking that he is probably around 2 1/2 years old. My neighbor gave him to me. I took him so that he would be safe because I built a coop for him and then purchased 4 other hens and was given another hen. but they have been living together for about 4 1/2 months. He has only starting having these symptoms that I have noticed since yesterday. He is a wyandotte silkie rooster. And as i said he is wheezing really bad, not eating or drinking. And his crown on his head is a dark red.

Can you get a flashlight and another pair of hands, and look down his throat to see if anything such as food, a yellow growth, or something he has tried to swallow is in there? He sounds like he is not getting enough oxygen, from either a stuck object or a respiratory disease. If you notice any eye drainage, nasal drainage, a bad odor, or swelling around an eye or his face, he may have one of the diseases such as MG, coryza, or ILT. Is he gasping?
