I used to have a huge rhode island red rooster and he always attacked me. He would chase me around the yard and keep me stuck on the trampoline. I used a large net for awhile, if he attacked me (which he always did) I would put the net over him until I was finished outside and went in. I didnt want to get rid of him cause he was sooo pretty, but, in the end we brought him to a wild flock of chickens in a nice little area. needless to say he's enjoying himself.

I had a lil' turd one time - a bantam white frizzle cochin named "Zeb" - before I SOLD him he would only chase/flock you when your back was turned.. I finally had to keep either a net or dowl rod to protect everyone.. I tried everything to break him but nothing so he had to go..

Oh Candace, I do love you. Now we have even more in common, my dear friend. LOL!! I have Pesky!

A bantam Mottled Cochin roo. I don't have the heart to eat him or get rid of him because I adore him so much.

He free ranges on my property but he hates me and attacks me at will! He hides in the barn and I don't see him until I'm busy and then he comes out and flogs the stuffing out of me. Thankfully he doesn't hurt even in shorts because of those feathery legs of his but he certainly hurts my pride.

Picking him up and carrying him around doesn't help. He bites me!!! ROFL!! And if I hold him upside down? He swings to try to get right side up!!! He's not fathering any babies, I just really like his spunk and fortitude and that's why I haven't gotten rid of him.

Welcome to the "My Roo Hates Me" club!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I may get alot of crap for this but i recently had this problem with 2 cochin roos, they had never been around and girls and once I put them in with a pullet they starting getting aggressive with me, sorry but I guess I am just not that nice, I was upset at first but then I got mad. When they come at me to flog me, I have a flexible plastic container, (one that hamburger meat comes in) and I would hit him with it, repeatly until they quit coming at me and gave up. Then they started to run from me, like I was the mean one who started all of this, and now the one is coming along fine and the other hasnt gotten over the trauma of our "fight". I am sure he will, now I can hold them with no problem. I hope it doesnt reoccur.

I am sorry to laugh. But you told the story so well. I could see it happening. He looks so sweet. Glad you are ok and the hen is too.

Oh how I hate mean roosters. Why is it always the ones you need to keep. My Lavender Ameraucana roo is evil! My mutt rooster is so nice to me. My mean one is really tricky. He gives me the eye, I give him the eye, then he acts like nothing is going on and he even pecks at the ground and acts like he is eating something. I turn my back to grab some eggs and he inches closer to me. I turn and give him the eye, then he pecks the ground again. Then I turn around again and he is on me! I take a plastic manure rake with me and I have tried to stand up to him and scare him and pen him in a corner with it to show him who is boss, but he does not give up. He tries to get me through the rake. So we play this stupid game everyday! I really really wish I didn't need him for breeding.
