So, I went out to feed and water after work today and found our golden hen laying up on one of the to-be Designated nesting shelves. I was wondering if this is a sign of her starting lay soon. She also didn't like me coming through and checking nests and cleaning poop out of some. She finally got up and left well squawking at me the whole time. I've suspected that she would possibly be our broody when she gets of age since since she was a chick. Just wondering anyone's thoughts?

Sounds like it to me :) and buff orps are notorious broods :D
Buff orp? I've been wondering what she was. She was one of our pullets. And if that's the case, I'm sure I'll end up with more chickies. Lol I need to look deeper in the forum for breed types and if any of them can help me tell for sure about the rest of the flock lol. And I believe I still got some young roosters growing out. But my dad says it's only the one. Lol

Yep Orpingtons are a favorite for those who wants a generally docile hen who will be willing to hatch for them or adopt chicks, although there's many a brood breed such as the Cochin(I have one brooding a set of 6 eggs as we speak) you can easily look up popular chicken breeds online and play guessing game as to what you've ended up whith and how they'll fit into your flock :) (its kinda fun!) Or you can post pics of your flock on here and we'll happily play the guessing game along whith you! Good luck whith your birds!

Awesome! Thank you. I haven't really been able to figure out what she was. I'll try to get some pics today when I get home. Depends on how much time I have before I have to leave to take my son to dr..
