"real" eggs (LOL)

LOL I know what you mean! I think Mexcian food is much better at the place down the road in Virginia compared to the 'real stuff' I had in Mexico!

After dinner last night, I peeked in the fridge, and noticed some of my eggs missing, so she did use them after all (she has store bought eggs in her fridge, in the garage, and said she would use those instead). She doesn't even eat eggs, mostly uses them for baking. She gets an allergic reaction to them if they aren't cooked all the way (rock hard, gross).

I think that knowing that my eggs came from my chickens makes it harder to ignore the fact that they came out of a chicken's butt. Buying them from the store is just about as far removed from a chicken's butt as possible.

The other day, I was so excited, because I brought in an egg immediately after it was laid, still warm and everything. Then I had this though "this thing just came out of her butt, and now I'm holding it" and was temporarily grossed out. Still, it tasted delicious.

My husband was totally creeped out at a softshelled egg. I brought it in (it was still slightly warm) and said "hold out your hand". He did, and when I put that in his hand he got the strangest look on his face and I knew immediately he didn't find it nearly as fascinating as I did. I took it back immediately *laughing almost uncontrollably* and watched him rub his hand on his jeans and shirt front trying to wipe off the "weird" feeling. I was just about to fix breakfast and he made me PROMISE not to cook that one for his breakfast! LOL!!!

Point being.. perhaps you could put the eggs in a store bought egg carton and cook them in front of your sister so she thinks you got them from the store.

Great idea...I forgot she said she had white eggs.

lol. my dh had never had a fresh egg until last year when a friend gave us a dozen (which led to my begging for chickens). when i cracked them open on the griddle he said there was something wrong with them. when i asked why, he said its cuz the yolks were orange! i laughed and told him its cuz they are so fresh. i cant wait until my girls start laying, hopefully soon, they are 17 weeks, cuz i ate a fried egg last night, from the store, and i wasnt sure if i was even eating egg or not, they were so bland.

I just recently started selling my farm eggs and one lady wanted to have all white eggs so that her kids wouldn't know the difference. I think it is kind of sad and silly at the same time, that people get so used to the old store eggs with *no* flavor hardly...

Now, I can't keep up with my demand after my first week...

I can't eat an egg to save my life. From the store or my own. They just make me sick.

I used to love dippy eggs and now when I fix them for DH and DS I can hardly stand it. I just love my chickens. I sell the eggs when we have enought. We only have 7 that are laying.

At work last night I had to make something with store eggs and they did look funny after making things with my eggs. I was thinking where's the yoke?

I go the opposite way, I tend to think of the eggs we get from the Delightful Dozen as the "real eggs' and store bought as not real. I took a dozen eggs to a friend at work and almost said, here are your real eggs.

We had company for dinner and while preparing an egg curry dish the 11 year old spoke up exclaiming "WOW .. real eggs!" I asked him why he said real eggs. He said it was because the yolks where orange. Things like that give me a little hope for our future.
