My brother from out of town visited this weekend and was quite impressed by my quail but noted that he had a friend who had chickens and they gave you "real eggs".

REAL EGGS! WTH! What are these?! Knock-offs! I'll tell you what they are, smaller, tastier eggs - that's what!

The nerve!

I did have a friend (she has chickens) give me a hard time when I bought two dozen eggs at the grocery store last month, I should buy some farm fresh eggs from her…then she remembered I have quail in the garage and asked why I needed eggs at all. We went on a two week road trip and I pack hard boiled eggs along for easy breakfast/bag lunch protein options, have you ever tried to boil and peal quail eggs? I did 45 once for deviled eggs, took me two hours, never again! Sometimes those ‘real eggs’ are handy, but I also scrambled, salted, and froze enough quail eggs to equal 4 dozen chicken eggs as well, very handy for scrambled eggs and any baking I wanted to do as well, yes, I cook on vacation, saves a ton on eating out, but they worked great for ‘fake’ eggs, size just makes them inconvenient for boiling! It also used up all my eggs before we left because I’d have about 15 dozen when I got back!

We hard boil our quail eggs all the time. It's a very convenient way to eat them. I often eat a half dozen with a piece of toasted homemade sourdough toast for breakfast.

I purchased one of those manual quail egg peelers and it works great. This week my wife was making Chinese-style tea eggs and I hard boiled & shelled about 50 eggs all at once. It took me about 30 minutes (ten minutes of which was cooking time) to boil, chill, shake, then peel the eggs.

The egg peeler cost about $35 on Amazon.

I don't know where our ducks got those weird shaped rocks, but it can't be an egg.
