DH said he completely agreed that he thought his job was to make it so I could manage without him if I needed to. He needed to make me able to be independent in case something happened to him.

But don't get TOO independent because then they get the notion that you don't NEED them! Oh that fine line.

I'm a HUGE believer in equal opportunity learning. I'm single, so I HAVE to do all the chores (both man chores and woman chores). If I don't do it it isn't going to get done. I am appalled by women who say that they can't do certain things (and men too!). Nope. You can figure out a way to do anything that needs to be done (even if that means hiring or bartering to get a chore done!). None of us live forever. You never know when you will have to take over all the chores of life. Better to be prepared than to have to figure it out in the midst of grief.

Hopes hubby never replaces his lawn tractor with something smaller.

I suppose I could always do a poor job of mowing. A few weeks of butchered grass would take care of that, haha.

Guess I am just different. I don't want my DH doing yard work when he is home. He is active duty Army and doesn't get much free time and when he does he still deals with phone calls and emails. I want him to relax so I do everything during the week and just take the butt chewing for doing it all. I will say that he tells me if anything were to ever happen to me my family would be absolutely lost. I guess I spoil him but hey I will say he does all the vehicle washing cause I don't do a good enough job according to him.
