Hi , after eating some fresh oysters , i came up with thebright idea to give the shells to my chickens.
Especially since they are kinda run-bound because we had 6 inches of snow yesterday ,and they were inside all day.
They really did not go too awful crazy over them , but they really liked the pile of hay and donkey poop that was in the breezway after the donks had spent the night insid e!@!!!!LOL , guess you never know !!!!!

I mix mine up with my scratch and laying pellets. My chickens wont eat it straight, but in the farntic of "lets get some food" they seem to pick the oyster shell crumbles up.

If your giving it to them whole, I would suggest crushing it up, or going to the feed and seed and buying crushed oyster shells. This they will enjoy better, and it helps with your egg shells too!

I either smash up my own oyster shells or I buy them at my local feed store and give them as free choice along side of their free choice granite grit.
