Real Rhode Island Reds

They are 1 year old as of May 28th. There out of Exibition stock Rose Comb Rhode Island Red Larg Fowl and were pulled from the brood pen for this picture. The rooster is around 9 to 10 pounds and the hen is 7 pounds. A lot darker and flater in the back than hatchery reds.

I love the deep crimson coloring of Rhode Island Reds.
They are very sweet and full of personality!

Thank you.... The hen in the picture and her 3 sisters are in the brood pen with that rooster a good amount of chicks from them this year ( I quit counting at 200 ) I started hatching eggs Jan. 1st I have around 50 chicks from them that I like and are out in the big brood pen.

Beautiful birds, Chris! Just for laughs I'll have to compare those pics to my 3 RIR girls from Belt Hatchery. I think their color is very close (not the norm for hatchery birds), but I doubt they are the correct type, etc. Great producers for my laying flock, but definitely not heritage birds!!!
