Doves and pigeons are *basically* the same thing. They are in the same taxonomic group (Columbidae), and the names are often used interchangeably. Generally, the smaller species are called "doves" and the larger species are called "pigeons", but that doesn't always hold true. Also, they are more likely to be called "doves" if they have long tails, and "pigeons" if they have short tails. Oh, and the white pigeons are almost always called "doves" for some reason.
wow, that would be awesome to do! I would love to try that! I wonder how she trains them? Then again, it might be better for me not to know....I have too many hobbies and animals as it is....
They starting calling them Doves. when they starting using them for releasing. Because lots of people think pigeon are pest, and would not want them at their wedding.
Can not use any white pigeon, there was a case at a big sporting event. To save money they hire someone who used white kings. When released they only flew a short time and started landing in the stands.

Easy if you get good blood line. Just take them a mile away first, then start taking them farther away 2 times a week. Only birds raised there can be used, unless you buy babies.
When I raised white homers I did this once. They can be released from quite far if you train them. You do that by increasing the distance that you release them from.
