I've been planning this litter for about a month and after finally finishing all the genetics and all that gubbins i'v taken time to reflect on my research and planning and the one thing that i've conflicted is the survivability of a does first litter as I have trouble finding accounts for litters as the rabbit breed is a Miniature lop which is in the U.K is the same as a Holland Lop ( a three pound dwarf lop with a high fatality rate due to dwarf gene) which has much smaller litters compared to the U.S mini lop (6 pounds) so It's very hard to find accounts on the breed.
All together most accounts are about meat rabbits or meat-type rabbits with large litters that have different husbandry compared to my show rabbits (who I don't cull but place into informed pet homes because mini lops are a pet breed) as freezing (the highest reason for lost litters in rabbits) will not apply due to mine because they will be kept inside for the first 5 weeks. Most forum post I can find are about accidental litters, homestead litters, ones without a nestbox, does too old or too young.
Should I rethink my expectation of losing the all/most the first litter or does it still hold true with preventive informed care.
