Too bad you are so far away, I have a ton of extra Faverolles cockerels.Update - 2 more of the chicks died. I am left with one. I cannot tell you how angry and sad I am. Yes MPC is going to reship but there is a problem with USPS - and I got it straight from my mail carrier. USPS no longer uses its own planes for packages - it is subcontracted out to Fedex and you know Big Brown (having a senior moment). Anyway, they do not handle them the same and causing all manners of problems. As to time of year - ummm well, how do you get chicks shipped if none are hatching??? I think Spring and Summer are the only choices???? I like the idea of hatching my own but my luck I would end up with 40 roostersStill hoping to find someone local.

FedEx has been the intermediate carrier for most live shipments for a while, for any birds being sent by anyone other than a hatchery. My postmaster told me a while back that the USPS handled the hatchery shipments. We both learned a lot about the live shipping process after a couple of boxes went badly awry last year, and all about dry ice on FedEx flights. I have some meat chicks arriving next week. I will ask them which service handles them. Got ducklings in May, all arrived healthy and happy in 2 days.
I will say chicks should have no problem surviving a 2 day trip in the mail. The ones I hatch often go 3 days before even looking at food. Maybe you could try ordering the 25 minimum, just in case of losses or unexpected cockerels. You could always sell the extras.
