10 out of 14 eggs hatched this week. Everything was going great until the last hatch. Poor thing had its brain exposed. I cannot believe how active and "normal" it was behaving other than having half of its brain poking out through a hole where its skull should be.
I have been ready, though, for just such an emergency by reading about euthanasia methods on this site, knowing that raising animals means culling and euthanizing at some point. I held the little thing for awhile and then it went fairly peacefully in a euthanasia chamber setup.
