First - any help is appreciated. I am not finding anything by online searching. My black sex-linked hen is 4-5 years old. She has had an egg-shaped, egg-sized, hard mass in the center of her breast for several days. I felt her squishy, gritty crop two days ago - it was empty this morning. She has been in a cage with no food (access to water, and I syringe-watered her) for 9 hours. She has pooped normal-looking, a little watery, poop 3 times. Eyes are bright, comb and wattles are firm and true red, weight is good, energy level is good, no squatting or lethargy at all, able to jump up to the highest roost. I massaged the lump for a good 5 minutes this morning - she did not mind. This afternoon, it feels harder, but I might be imagining that. Some feathers seem missing, but I think the skin is distended so that the feathers are spread out. I know what a broody, plucked tummy looks like, and this is not it. There is no ascites, no odor (I have treated sour crop in the past.), no apparent discomfort, other than she wants out with her buddies. I was going to try olive oil, a stool softener, etc., but I don't think this is a crop issue. HELP?
