If it weren't for folks like Boyd and the friend you're a little peeved at, shy, introverted young men like myself would not have had any friends of the opposite sex. Not every guy has the confidence to do a cold approach to a girl they like (especially a really cute one like yourself), and some (like myself) are complete dunces at understanding "girl signals".... don't even know they exist. So if the guy you like is anything like I was you'd have to either tell him yourself in very plain obvious terms (a 2x4 over the head comes to mind) or have a friend drop the hint for you.
And "I like chicken" is definitely his hint back - it's exactly the kind of thing I would have said back then in the same situation. So if you want to get to know this guy better my "expert" opinion is that you're going to have to make the next move and talk to him (or use that 2x4)

well me and my friend are all good again. i talked to her and explained everything. she said she was really sorry and didn't notice.
even more good news...the boy asked for my number and tomorrow we are going to the town memorial day parade together.
