This is a real bummer. We added to our flock not too long ago because of the 4 we already had, only one was laying. 5 eggs a week didn't cut it. So we now have 12. It took a few weeks but the new additions have started laying now. Unfortunately, several of them will announce very loudly for ages before they lay their eggs. I'm getting worried that some one is gonna complain. It isn't so horribly loud inside but if someone wakes up and hears it, the repetitive nature of the criers tends to make it difficult to fall back to sleep in the morning.
When you figure out the secret - let me in on it too will ya?
I've got one girl who honks incessantly... every time she lays or the others lay
- she sounds like a goose! Its rather annoying as she will go on and on for about 20 minutes. She cackles all day long too - more than any of the other birds and is much louder.
