Very nice.. age cofirms gender is female. They’re 13 weeks
This is what I call pinking up but not quite the same as the deeper red that will set in as they get closer to lay.. the deeper red is what I'm describing as happening about 4 weeks before onset of lay and you will likely recognize the change.
Very often when the eggs are actually coming.. the ladies may get more chatty and vocal. Sometimes more restless, possibly looking for a nice nesting spot.
Another exception worth noting to "them all turning red" is those melanistic breeds (like ayam cemani, svart hona, or Silkie) with good quality black skin pigmentation. Some may get mulberry colored where red peaks through the black.. for lack of a better description. Those with poor pigmentation do still get quite red.
My 3 GLW ladies are turning 10 weeks old tomorrow and also developing at very different rates from one another. So much fun to see their differing personalities as well.
In a previous year I had 3 barred Rock ladies.. and there was at least a 4 week difference between when the first started laying to when the last did. And I've seen more spread than that among various individual breeds throughout the years..
Happy chicken adventures!
