I have too. it was a humpback that washed up in an estuary in Playa San George. The estuary ALREADY stank, throw a whale into the mix and it is unbearable. At one point the carcass had exploded, but it was a private American-houses beach in Mexico...so the authories wouldn't do anything about it.

Anyway, your neighbors are still nasty.

I used to work at a seafood place peeling shrimp 12 hours a day for peanuts...oh the stench!!! I'd beat those neighbors with a dead floppy tuna till the couldn't stand up!

BTW- Here there is such demand for used fryer oil that we can sell it. It's used to make bio-fuels.

That stuff irks me...

It is very illegal...on a federal level (as you learned by calling the EPA). Good for you!! I am a geologist and my career is revolves around cleaning up contaminated soil and groundwater. Accidents happen (unfortunately), but intentional spills?

I don't care how small, that stuff adds up and spreads quick! I hope they get a nice FAT fine from the EPA! Plus, it can go back to their restaurant as a illegal disposal violation. You'd be surprised how long a few hundred gallon leak can persist and how quickly it spreads (especially once it hits groundwater). Boneheads! Even 10 gallons (or whatever the frialator holds) is unacceptable!

They'll probably have to pay a hazmat team to dig up all the dirt and replace with uncontaminated soil.... It's too bad they're so cheap they don't realized they could sell the oil and actually make some money off it... now it's gonna COST em!! LOL!

When we bought this house, which was owned by a relative of theirs, we took out 13 construction dumpsters of trash and soil because they never believed in the town dump, which is FREE to residents.

They should have a dirty fry oil tank outside for that stuff....

We have a eating establishment here in town that had been pouring their used grease into the storm sewers..... last winter the storm sewers in that section of town all backed up....... the mess was unbelieveable, the city had to dig up a lot of storm sewer drains and rotorooter a lot of pipe.

The place that did it is still operating since they cannot prove it was them, but it is the only place in that section of towm that has a deep fryer....

OP, you did the right thing! I was going to suggest you call your local restaurant inspector and let them know what is going on, but the EPA is SO much better!
