My one year old Red Sex Link, Flopsy, just laid an egg with what looks like a continent on it!

Does she have some sort of deficiency in her diet? Or is it just a random fluke?

You will notice with brown egg layers spots of all kinds and colors. The brown is like the final coat over the egg and you can sort of wash the color off when scrubbing a stain off the egg. I picture it like a car wash and the wax cycle at the end of the egg laying process. In MHO there is nothing to be concerned about just a random fluke your probably going to get a lot of strange looking eggs.

Ok, thanks! She's laid one's with little speckles before, just nothing like this mornings egg.

You are more then welcome.

It looks fine to me. One of my RSL girls has always laid eggs with a similar mark (but darker brown) on the top of her egg. At least it lets me know which one is hers!

All sorts of odd things can happen with eggs. If you're interested, this is a good article from the Learning Center and explains some of the possible causes:
