I just thought I would let anyone interested in Wisconsin that I found a reasonably priced source for organic feed for your pullets and hens. I just paid $37.20 for 100 lb's of organic pullet starter, and I can get organic layer feed for a couple of bucks less. It is from Big Gain......I'm also looking into having them make just non-GMO feed for me as well, and it looks like that may be less expensive. I've been searching a long time for organic and non-gmo food as I would prefer to feed my hens that, but wasn't interested in paying $27 plus for organic feed, so I hope this might help others in my area in the same boat.

Wow, would love to have those kind of prices around me!!!! That's a wonderful price, congratulations!!!

I too would like to switch to an organic feed but it looks to be cost prohibitive. In my area, the cheapest I've found was 35 lbs for $24. I can buy 50 lbs of non-organic for about $17. I've seen organic feed as high as $30 for 35 lbs.

My desire to go organic is based on many potential egg buyers asking me if the eggs are organic. I have purchased organic scratch which is not as big a deal because it lasts for a long time since it's only fed as a treat in small amounts. Pretty much everything else I give them is organic as in veggies from the garden, organic oats and other organic stuff as long as it isn't super expensive.

My eventual goal is to have the egg money pay for the chickens but costs of organics makes that look like it not possible. I get the whole "organic" thing but the other part of me says, my hens eggs are already far superior to what can be bought at the grocery store because I know what I feed my flock and I always feed organic when it is cost effective but when it comes to feed, I've hit a road block.

I too would like to know what brand and where you were able to find 100 lbs for $17!
