Reassure me! First chick injury/blood!

I have not tried putting her back in the general population. But I am fine giving it a shot. My only reason for separating was just so that nobody would try to go after her bloody area.
I think you could totally try reintroducing her. I would just keep an eye on her since she has red feathers And chickens are naturally attracted to red and might start picking her

You can put blu kote on her to hide the blood. Or... I wonder if you could put regular food coloring on it? I'd check that food coloring is safe for wounds, but I'm sure you could at least hide the red in her feathers with blue food coloring, if you can't get any blu kote.

Yeah, I had a Buff Brahma chick who had a leg wound at about a week old- I separated her so that she couldn't see her nest mates (oh, the magic of cardboard!) but allowed her supervised visiting hours. she got out every one in a while during the day and I let her when they were all napping. She healed just fine and is now a very sweet 11 month old!:)

I propped open the cage door last night so that she could leave if she wanted to (and was smart enough). Checked the camera in the coop a little later and she was still in there.....but with 3 or 4 friends. Haha. Whatever..... This morning she was still in there with 2 friends, but by the time I went out there to tell them all to leave, they had all left on their own. Go figure!

She seems ok. I did see some gentle pecking from her flockmates on the area this morning, but she did not seem to mind. It was more like just exploratory pecking. She can easily get away from anyone who she wants to get away from. I might try to catch her again tonight to see if anything looks better or worse.
