Hi, there! I recently ordered 12 ducklings through Ideal Poultry and when the shipment arrived, I was surprised to see 6 day-old chicks in the box. The packing slip had a stamp that said "males included for warmth." So, I'm guessing that these truly are 6 roosters - which I have no need for. I currently raise a handful of Silkies, but don't want to introduce 6 new standard size roos to their flock.
I'd like to advertise these to local chicken lovers, but hope to provide them with more information than just "free chicks". Any help or advice on the breed(s) they might be would be so helpful.
All 6 are black with white on the tops of their heads, chests, and wingtips. Their beaks and feet are orange. I'm thinking maybe barred rock or plymouth rock, but those are only guesses based on what I've seen online.
Thanks in advance!
