Received complaint from humane services about "roaming"

Maybe there are too many "compliance's" in your area. I was raised in San Diego in the 60's as a child. There were chickens in our neighborhoods walking around all the time. All they did was eat all the bugs and lay eggs in everyone's yard. I often wonder if the people making the policies have connections with bug exterminator companies. After all, what do chickens do best? Eat all the bugs all around your house everyday. You will never see so much as a spider in your home of you have chickens running around.
What do chickens do best ? Lay eggs... And POOP!

I wouldn't want chicken crap all over my backyard and deck and lawn furniture 😆 bad enough they poop all over my hay !!!!

An animal's owner has 100% responsibility to keep his animals on his own property. That is the bottom line for all roaming animal issues.

Chickens are highly destructive to people's landscaping and gardens -- not to mention pooping on their sidewalks, decks, lawn furniture, etc. It's simple common sense to understand that neighbors don't want that.

I live in bum freaking Egypt - there are no compliances out here. But my far flung neighbors and I do our very best to respect each other's property. If their dog wonders onto my property with my free ranging hens, I call her and take him home. Then she does her best to contain him better. If my hens ripped the absolute F out of someone's vegetable garden (and major food source) I would feel awful.

Been to Egypt, enjoyed it immensely.

Agree with u, here in the country side any dog running freely harrasing livestock is not tolerated. It annoys me when people's dogs harrase and chase my horses, esp as I spend many thousands of dollars putting up proper fencing to contain them, Same with my chickens. I tell people if they can't afford to put in proper facilities then they should not have their dog. Same with any animal: dog, horse, chicken, cattle, sheep, goats.... Only animal I tolerate roaming are cats, and we have very few of them roaming as they become coyote food fast!
