I thought I read somewhere that you can't post direct links to social media, but I'm not seeing it in the terms and conditions. Please let me know if this isn't allowed.

This photo is heartbreaking. She lost her flock of eight chickens to a heat lamp fire that destroyed everything. I'm guessing they weren't chicks in a brooder; they were full grown and the heat lamp was to keep them warm at night.

I'm not posting this to shame her; it could happen to anyone. Please consider choosing something other than heat lamps if you feel you need to keep the coop warm.

This is from another site but I wept when I read it.
Horrifying.
A lot of people who don't have chickens have questioned me about the need for heat in the coop and I have explained to them why it's not needed. They look at me like I am a mean chicken mama and I can see that they don't get it.
It is NOT the same as leaving your dachshund chained outside in a snowstorm, people.
Here is why I will never consider using heat lamps in my coop.

One of the most moving things I've read for a while. So so sad.
