I personally like my Brower Top Hatch Incubator, gotten at Double R Supply. Costing $125.99 Total (includes shipping)

I like it for the following reasons:
*Easily regulated, turning the temperature is easily done with turning a slightly indented screw (indented meaning it's a little indented under the surface of the plastic base, so it's not at all easy to move or bump, but moves easily with a screw tho).

*It's very versatile to use with multiple types of eggs, from Quail to Turkey & Geese, no extra tray needed to buy. & has the head room for the Geese goslings or Turkeys after they hatch... alot of other incubators you have to worry about them getting burned on the element or have to buy an extended ring to extend the top to allow geese to hatch.

*Comes with an automatic turner. No need to pay extra to buy a turner. It turns the eggs back & forth so they roll side to side. It turns all sizes of eggs from Quail to Geese & Turkey. & Plugs in with one electric cord, that works the heat, fan & turner, no extra cords to run.

*The turner 'rack' is easily moved for hatching (no need to handle each & every egg to take them out of the turner to remove it for hatching).

*It comes with a gentle constant fan, so it brings in fresh air & mixes it with the heated air to keep even heated air circulated.

*A stabilized heat wrap is easily made from bubble wrap, so it doesn't fluctuate temps at all..... sound cheap I know, but it works, seriously.

*It has a large Clear top, so you can easily see what's going on inside. Love that.

*The heat source is a light bub which is easily replaced by changing to a new bulb. But it's operated by an electronic thermostat to keep it nonflluctuating & steady at temps. & I guess it senses the heat at egg level too.

*The tray is Very durable (even dishwasher safe). So it's easily cleaned unlike styrofoam.

*It also comes with a 1yr warrentee. & from what I understand the company is So easy to deal with & easily fixes any problem arising.

The only real problem is the incubator comes with VERY Tiny ball barrings that go into the little wells that allow a marble size ball barring to roll on top of them to let the incubator tub move for turning. They're Real easy to lose. But my Hubby had devised the idea of magnetizing the larger ball so if we needed to do anything with the small 'wells' he'd just hold one of our son's Dollar store 'Sizzling Magnets' (large super magnets) to the larger ball barring & it'd pick up the larger ball barring & have the 5 teenie tiny barrings attached. Of course I stand there with a bowl to catch them 'just incase'. But that the only downfall we've seen, it holds temps & humidity great

We were at first heading towards a Hovabator, but it was more in total cost, styrofoam so it was less durable over time, and special issues had to be taken in disinfecting cleaning it after hatching. wasn't suited for the geese/turkey height, & the wonderful incubators that are homemade that hold temps so well for Sooooo many are heated by a light bulb, so we figured why no go with that 'style' of heating, but with a professional heating thermostat & have the benefit of a turner too. & a peace of mind knowing our eggs will be cared for well.

If you want to take a peak at the instruction booklet that comes with the Brower Top Hatch, you can check it out here:
http://www.browerequip.com/products/brower/top-hatch/top2.html
Just scroll down & click on the pdf file (it's right above the "Incubator Specifications" title).

If you're looking to check into any other incubators you can check them out here:

Just click on the brand names to see those brand incubators.

Hope this helps

I just bought the Genesis 1588 (with the universal turner) from Home and Barn Basics. It's coming in 5 to 7 business days, Harley. I will send you a PM, too.

YAY!

I'm gonna be really addicted now, aren't I?

Dangerous,

I'm using a tophatch right now and my personal opinion is it's a pain in the b---. I would definitely go the Genesis 1588 way if I had it to do over.

I've been comparing prices on the 1588 and Barn Basics has it the cheapest with the BYC discount. Shop around.

Good luck

Cara

I LOVE MY 1588! I am a redhead who has my "blonde" moments, and I can work it wonderfully! I haven't had to change a thing temp nor humidity! I really think you will love yours!!! Happy Hatching!

Good choice! I have to constantly mess with the temp on the Brower and there were a couple more people with the same gripe. Let me know how you like it. I really should've listened to the BYC folk and not the DoubleR lady but her intentions were good

Her intentions were a sale

Nah, I'm sure she was trying to get you what you wanted. She just didn't know that what you really wanted was the Genesis 1588

I will report here how it is going. You will bet I will have questions galore!

I'm joining the crowd! I ordered my 1588 and turner from Home and Barn Basics too! (after messing up my own order with gqf, decided to go with a BYC sponsor! And got the 3 day delivery so it should be here Thursday or Friday, I'm hoping!!!
