Thanks for the responses. I have storey's guide, but I loaned it out. I have more of the storey's guides, but they are somewhat repetitive.

I am not looking to breed or sell chickens. I buy 40 pounds of chicken every 2 weeks for the dogs. I am wanting to hatch my own to add to my egg layers and I have a purpose for the excess cockerels. I am interested in selling eating eggs- not selling hatching eggs or chicks. Mutts don't matter to me. Obvious faults will be culled but more for health and utility than for the standard. I breed meat rabbits and do the same for them.

I am glad I have this board to fall back on. I am sure I will be using the search feature!

And there is nothing wrong with having mutts. In reality, the hens that commercial egg layers are not true to their breed that you assume they are. They have been specially bred for production and early processing for the duel purpose bird. Geesh, TMI, sorry.
But it is nice to see in these clubs the real bird, where and how it started. For me its interesting!

Its actually not that expensive, I got the soft cover edition from the APA site for $14.

Guess what site I'm going to next! Awsome, I thought and saw some really high prices like $70! That is what I saw, guess I best get to really looking into this, I was in hopes that Santa would be nice to me- but I may be pushing my luck
