The stag is now a cock. And his daddy General Lee is still doing well on the farm I sent him to.
I have this cock paired with an “improved” Cracker hen. Meaning she’s 3/4 Cracker, 1/4 Blueface American game. They produced 3 pullets late summer, but my bulldogs ate 2 of them, leaving one daughter. The hen is laying again and will probably sit before true winter sets in.
I’m going to dub the cock to show standards just before the December new moon.
Most importantly, his ear is red and her ear is red. Getting the ear color right has been my biggest challenge all these years. The red junglefowl side of the equation keeps wanting to throw in white or iridescent ears.
