Rectal prolapse

I've put it back in several times and keep putting preparation h on it but it keeps popping back out. I don't want to put her down because she seems perfectly fine otherwise, but obviously I can't turn her back out like that and I also can't keep her in the bathtub forever either....it smells horrendous in there. I just feel so bad for her, and I don't know what to do.

Use a warm bath to help with the swelling. Just keep gently pushing it back in.
Hope your girl will be okay.

I just really looked at the picture of the prolapse. My girl had it bigger. I remember how worried I was. Just keep doing your best. It took days of work but each time she laid it wasn't as bad as the last time.

Here was my experience with a duck 1/2 year ago. I know it's not exactly the same, but it should be similar. She is fine now and is laying. Time will tell if she prolapses again, but for now she is happy and healthy.

Cold / cool water would help reduce swelling and inflammation, warm water would increase blood flow. So if your going to use water the help ease the swelling please to cool/cold but not icy.

Ok, so I just got home from a 12 hour shift so nobody was there to check on Lulu....i pushes rear end back in last night before i left, but she immediately popped it back out and now the mucosa is getting dry and has a white film over part of it. Is it hopeless at this point? There is a zoological clinic here at the University where I could take her but I'd have to call them tomorrow because they are closed

now and I work another 12hour shift tonight. I'm posting a pic if what it looks like now.....doesn't look hopeful to me, and I'm a nurse.

I'm sorry, I also am a medical professional (paramedic). I think it is hopeless also, the only times I have ever heard of full recovery (and it is rare) is when the prolapse stays back it. You know as I do each prolapse and replacement increases chance of internal infection. If she were mine I would end her suffering personally.

I agree...I think that's the most humane thing to do at this point. I hate it because she is fine otherwise. This morning she ate her corn, drank some water and then started preening her feathers like nothing was wrong. She's a sweet girl....this sucks!
