Hello! I’m looking into getting a single budgie and I want to give it as good of a home as possible. I’ve been eyeing a rectangular finch flight cage on Amazon, but I’ve also seen online that people prefer vertical cages. Does anyone have a particular preference for cage shapes? Thanks!

Do you have any specific cage brand recommendations? And thanks for the advice! :)

I have one of these with two canaries and two grasskeets in it. It can house six budgies comfortably, but will be much appreciated by just one or two, too. It is big enough the birds can get flight inside, and need less time out. But a single bird needs a lot of attention anyway.

I have one budgie in this, but I leave his cage door open, so he is not really confined. It's about the minimum I would recommend for one budgie, no more than two. It is an OK size for a bird allowed abundant time out in the home.

this is the most space for price. I have two, but I have mounted mine together into one double tall cage for two finches and two diamond doves. These cages are alright for one to two budgies but the doors lift up instead of out, making them dangerous if they fall on a bird. I secure them open with clothes pins.

I don't like the grates on this cage. They can't be removed unless you cut them out with wirecutters and re-secure the cage with zip ties (which i did, but it took forever) and are hard to clean. They can be taken out in the other models.

Wow! Thanks for all the recommendations! I’ll be sure to check those out. Again thanks for the help!

I know this is an older thread, but I wanted to say something.

I do not think it could house six budgies, and definitely not comfortably. I have that cage for my single budgie, and I do wish it was wider, but it's ok. In my opinion, it should not house more than 2 budgies.
@RDchicken99 have you got a budgie? If you're still looking, consider getting one from a rescue, parrots are the third most popular pet in the US, but one of the most likely to be rehomed.

I don’t have a budgie yet! I will look into rescues in my area! And is there any way you could link the cage you have? I was looking at this one, https://www.amazon.com/YAHEETECH-Re...=Yaheetech+30+inch+cage&qid=1634254738&sr=8-1 It would be nice and roomy for a single budgie.
