Recurring crop problems

Personally i would try to pick up a vitamin supplement like Sav-a-Chick just stuff for chickens that has vitamins i think they might be eating the dirt because there not getting enough nutrition

Only one was eating dirt. The other 1 is fine. I think the original impaction did not get completely eliminated and has traveled further down.

I am Learning that when it comes to chickens, as in life, you can do everything right and still have health problems.

I guess what I wanted help with was whether to cull him or not. Idk if he is suffering, since I am learning that chickens are good at hiding symptoms. I think I will have to keep him on concrete until he is old enough to put in the coop. Then I will see whether or not the problems continue.

Melissa gave you wormed him? I saw in your other post you gave him DE but honestly that is not going to get rid of worms. Some will disagree with that for sure but if you are seeing worms in poop then Winnie has a load of worms that are dangerous. That could very well be causing the crop problems. Before you decide to cull I really suggest you do a proper worming (of all the chickens as if one has it most likely they all do). There's many products on the market...are you in the US?

Yes. Have you heard of Worminator? My friend has some and will give me some.

I have been using the Backyard Chicken Health Pack. It is supposed to be all natural. But it seems no one on BYC has anything to say about it. I bought it at TSC and it wasn't cheap.

His crop was flat this morning, but I am still worried about him. I will keep them on concrete until I see a real change in him. The minute I open the chunnel, he runs to the grass. I feel bad keeping them on concrete, but I just can't teust that he won't go and eat another load of dirt. Someone suggested he might have pica.

I actually didnt put the DE to worm, but to keep bugs out of the feed. It just so happened that when he ate the feed with DE in it, a load of worms came out.

He needs grit, not just dirt. You can get grit at your feed store. Without it in his crop, he is unable to grind up his food.
