I received a Terra cotta pot one year from a client. It was very nice, one that you would put hens & chicks in. I was young, newly married, working my but off, etc.. I went to visit my aunt who I wasn't really really close with but loved very much. l didn't want to go empty handed and honestly & truly wanted to give her something little. The Terra cotta pot was perfect for she loved Hens & Chicks. Anyway, our visit went well, had lunch, hung out at her house & reminisced about old times. Months later it got back to me that she didn't like the fact I recycled the gift to her. I thought I looked the pot over well but there must of been a tag on the bottom that said from whoever gave it to me. She made a couple negative comments to a third party (a family member) whom she was talking to & thought I was just terrible and cheap. The news getting back to me shocked me for I realised I over looked the From part but it hurt me more than anything because I truly and honestly wanted to give it her.....I was young and at that time Had Nothing!!! I have seen my aunt numerous of times afterwards in the years to come & she never once has said a word to me. She has always been sort of a backstabber & two faced person.....noted from other family members & observers. Still I loved her for she was my aunt. If for some reason in her old age she should mention that terra cotta pot I would be totally honest to her and l would let her know how that it's the thought that counts not the gift!!!
