Hello
Looking for some guidance. I have 12 girls and this morning I noticed one has a red bottom with no feathers. All others check out ok. I do not see others pecking her but maybe it happens when I am not around. I got some pictures sorry they are blurry. Any advice appreciated.

I would check for abdominal swelling..... Cup your hand between her legs when she is roosting and feel for any fullness or bloat between her legs and below her vent. Compare with adjacent hens so you know what normal feels like. It may just be part of her moult or lice or pecking at roost time but it may be she has abdominal swelling possibly due to a reproductive disorder which is causing irritation or soiling and the over preening required to keep herself clean is causing the feather loss.

Guess I should have indicated all my girls are only 10 months so I was told they won't molt until next year.

How do I check for mites or lice and would that only affect one hen?
Some hens will get lice more than others. To check, you need to catch her and inspect her skin and feathers for bugs. I'm old, so I use a pair of strong reading glasses when I check mine. Check all parts of her body (skin and feathers) because there are many types of lice, and each one likes a different part of the body.

I have not seen any sign of critters on her. On day one I noticed some father loss. Say two was some redness and day three some sores. I have moved her to sick bay because I am pretty sure someone is picking on ger. Last night there was no sores and this morning there were some so someone mentioned getting pecked while roosting so I think that might be the cause. I checked very closely and do not see any sign of things moving on her like mites or lice. I cleaned up her bottom as best I could and put some Neosporin on it. She is now isolated to give her time to heal. I just hope she doesn't get lonely since she and the other 11 have been together since day one. I never had issues with one picking on the others thus far so hope she can rejoin the flock in short order.

I would probably put some BluKote on her to hide the redness and let her back with the flock.
Likely she is being picked at during roosting. Evaluate your space to ensure that there is enough room for roosting.
If you feel she needs separation, then cage her inside the coop/run so she is near the flock.
