Hi everyone!

On the 24th we are picking up 5 Red Bourbon Turkeys and 10 Cornish Crosses. I have a few questions.

1. Can we keep the Reds and the Crosses together in the same brooder?

2. We also have 4 Australorps and 4 Easter Eggers that are 10 weeks old. My plan is to keep 1 Tom and 2 Hens from our turkeys and butcher 2. Am I able to keep the Reds in with our egg layers once they are big enough to go out to the coop?

Thanks everyone!

You will get different answers, but in my experiences with raising turkey and chickens together the turkeys can and will kill chickens. I recommend separate accommodations for the turkeys as they can be bullies and are a different type of poultry as far as behavior.

I allow my chickens and turkeys to free range in the same area, but I'm always around when my turkeys are out, and I'm always grateful when I can lock my turkeys up in their own space, and my chickens seemed relieved too.
