Red ear lobes turning white

Search on here for hens turning into roosters and you'll understand. She was small with a small comb low tail normal hen. Rooster died and she grew a larger comb, larger and whiter ears, sickle feathers, crows and mounts hens and lays eggs.

Hens cannot change into roosters. Mounting other hens most often is due to dominant behavior, as can females that imitate crowing. On a rare occasion an older hen with a malfunctioning ovary may develop male sex characteristics, but that hen no longer is capable of laying. They are certainly incapable of fertilizing eggs as they are genetically female and do not possess testicles.

Over time, bird's combs get bigger. Roosters do not lay eggs. Mounting is not always about sex. Sometimes it is simply about dominance. It is not a male if it is not capable of fertilizing eggs.

My yr old rooster's earlobes are turning white. He stays in the coop all day. Usually behind the brooder (not in use). At night he does perch with the others. We have 2 roosters and 17 hens and have had this number for a long time now. He has been doing this for the last few days. Coop is 10' x 20'.

Favus, he has favus. Rub athletes foot cream on his ears, maybe his comb too I can't see that well. Lotramin works really good. I don't know why he's staying hidded, he looks a little dishevled. Maybe he's molting?:)

Thank you. I applied cream to his earlobes and comb tonight. He was up on the perch as happy as can be tonight. Did notice several of his tail feathers were on the ground. Will continue to keep an eye on it. He was hunkered down when I took the pictures. He usually stands up so proud, tall and handsome.

Thank you again for your advice. I do appreciate it.

Earlobes in a breed of chickens that normally come red can turn white due to intensive inbreeding. I have a family of Atkinson Aseel that have the pale white in there lobes. This strain always came with red earlobes..
