I have an 8 month old rooster who's feet have started to turn a little reddish between his toes. I had read in another post that it could be dampness in the coop/run but both are dry. I had also read another post about comb/waddle/ear lobe color and them loosing color when a chicken is calm but brighten up when they are aggitated. Rock Hudson has become agressive toward the alpha bantam rooster in the flock. Could this be causing the reddness? If not then what?

Hormones. Both my roos have the bright red toes and streaks of red up their legs right now. Spring is in the air and the hormones are running rampant in the roos blood.

Oh fantastic. I thought I could dodge the "hormone" bullet until my five year old daughter hit 12 or 13. No...I get a hormonal chicken. Thanks for the input.

Just be careful with that five year old around a hormonal rooster. I love my roos, but I love a childs eyesight more.

I noticed my roo had started getting red feet too the other day....kinda happy to hear its only hormones....could explain his horrible behavior lately too

HAHAHAHHAHAHHAAAAA!! Dodging the hormone bullet of a hormonal rooster. That is funny in more than 1 way.

Thanks for the laugh!!

My hens feet are a little redish as well sore looking. Could it just be where they are scratching around? The weather here in Ireland has got a lot wetter over the last few weeks as well
