Red fox attack- Strikes back- Check pg 2

Thanks everyone.

I am very much excited for fox season, but yet if the fox comes up again it is legal to shoot it if it is bothering your livestock... I have the feeling this isn't the end of him.

Tommy is recovering, she will be fine. Luckily the bite wasn't in anything vital, so it should heal soon. I think she is still a little traumatized though.
A little bit ago I took her her poults and gave them back to her, I observed as she made a nest and they all crawled under her.
She is indoors so nothing will be able to get after her and she won't be able to get out. I plan on moving her to a pen on Saturday.

I don't give a hoot if a season is in or not, something comes after my friends and he is a dead critter.

There is plenty of food for them out in the woods, their not getting a free dinner on my watch!

I agree... but it is very much legal to shoot something that is going after or bothering livestock, so if mr. fox knows whats good for him he'll stay away from my birds.

Really enjoyed the well-told story of everyone working together to take care of your turkeys - even the horse did his or her part. Who would think?! Sounds like things turned out so much better than they could've. I'm happy for you, Tommy, and poults.

Went out to do chores tonight.
I couldnt find my golden pheasant that lives with my chickens.
I walked around their pen and found a trail of its feathers leading out of the pen.
I looked closer to find a hole ripped in the fence where the fox went through.

Those chickens are on lock down inside the coop.

geez!..i'm very sorry to hear about this!... and what a awesome neighbor!...this is scary....hope you catch the thing...:thun...

Just went out, and yes it is DARK.

Friend got back from archery hunting out back, and he saw a grey fox, so there is more then just the red fox that know about my birds.

Heard the foxes yipping, and saw my white horse come galloping up with his tail raised high like he saw something.

The birds are OFFICIALLY on lock down. I cannot afford to be losing my birds.

He coming in through the back and hitting the back end of the coops birds.
The golden was in with my chickens, so I chased all of them into the coop and shut them up. I will be letting them in and out until I catch and kill the fox.

The 5 peacocks, they're still small-medium, have been moved out of their pen and put in the middle of the coop.
We moved a huge section of board into the pen with Tommy and her chicks and put it in front of the igloo she is nesting in, leaving big enough cracks for breathing. We'll knock it over during the day so she can get out into the pen.
My friend and I threw a tarp over the ringneck pen so the fox doesn't bother them.

I did, however, leave the one end of the coop that is far off the ground with a huge ramp open because they are all in and perched and I don't think the fox is going to get in there and run up the ramp, because the very top of the ramp is at least 4 feet of the ground.

I will have some help tomorrow setting a trap line along the lower pasture, and yes, I know where the fox's den is, so there will be a surprise waiting for him when he decides to come out.
In the end, I will make sure that fox is dead and mounted in my hunting room.
