Red golden pheasant

can anyone tell me about how old this guy is? I was told when i got him last summer he was about a year old. So that would make him almost 2 now. Had someone tell me he couldn't be that old because he's just starting to get all his colors...

It's not the best picture. He's got green ish color coming in on his back and red and yellow other places like he should. I saw both parents and the guy i got him from is a well respected local breeder. I trust he's pure. The guy has been raising birds for over 40 years. I just can't remember how old jr said he was. He started getting some color last summer, just not as bright like he is now.

If you have a big enough pen ( 10x12 ) shouldn't be a problem, you can have multiple hens, I put 4 or 5 with each rooster, and no if you let em out they will haul ***...Roost

Ok could I tame them enough to let them out and would my peacocks be able to go in the pen and roost at night also how big of a hole could they get out of bc i have some 1 to 2 inch hoes but thats it I'll take pics

They will tame but they are gamebirds. If something spooks them they will take off.Their only defense is flight,so if you clip their wings and you have predators around they will get eaten. Some people have had luck with them sticking around so if your willing to chance it?
Not all birds are meant to free range.
We need to provide them with the right pen for their safety and help them to survive and not to satisfy our needs!
