So I recently purchased half a dozen red golden pheasant eggs, and I got one extra for free so that was awesome. I candled them at 7 days, and all were growing but 2 eggs that were clear (I'm assuming they were infertile to begin with.) At 14 days, I had only 3 eggs that I could tell for sure there was something growing. One of those three eggs I know I am going to lose because I think the air cell at the top of the egg was lose from the shipping. I looked at the other eggs through candling as well (looked like air pockets on the side of the egg), and I know it's not my incubator that was the issue because it is brand new and the temperature is 99.5 degrees consistently. Do you think that my problem could be from the eggs being shipped?
I'm thinking they must have had a trip where the box was flipped over a lot which could rupture the air cell at the large end of the egg. The box was in perfect condition, and also the eggs were wrapped individually in bubble wrap and all made it without a crack. The box was packed with shredded paper; there wasn't room for anything to move around. So pretty much I'm just wondering what the issue could be? I'm so pumped to start raising red golden pheasants after waiting for two years, and my luck is just terrible.
