You could put a few marbles in the water to keep it a little shallower, and maybe discourage playing, IF it is getting the bedding too wet.

(Keep in mind, I am a total Newbie, just an idea.)

I know this is an old post but I had the same worry this morning, with some tomato red looking strings in the chicks poop. But it looks exactly like the shed intestinal lining pictures. I can't tell you how thankful I am that someone photographed chicken poop and posted it online. Seriously. Who would have thought it would be that helpful!!!!
