I'm keeping the faith that you guys will walk away with every award that show has to offer! So glad you are finally taking that plunge. And if you don't walk away with all the prizes, well, something is just wrong with those judges. In my uninformed opinion. Hell, anyone with a Son of Hulk has got to do something.

Well you guy's are too much, I thank you all very much. I hope we do well and it's just an honor to even be included in a show of this magnitude and surrounded by Cornish Legends and some great birds. We are hoping our whites will place well as we have been encouraged by many good Cornishmen to enter them. Charley and I have been working closely together on our birds for years and our lines are closely intertwined, we swap and borrow birds all the time and it's really great to have another good Cornish guy within 200 miles. We have been working real hard these past few years on these Whites and WLR's to get to this point so it feels pretty good. Anyway thanks again for all the well wishes.

Best of luck to you Al, but we all know that luck has little to do with it. Hard work and good sense is what gets you there. I am sure from all you have shown us, you are going to do great!

I can't believe it but I had my suspisions for a few day's, every time I would go into the Dark's pen to collect eggs the same pullet would be in the nest box, and no egg's under her. So the other day instead of bringing the eggs from the other pens in the house I set them under her. So the next day I go in there and sure as shootin she's setting on the egg's, I reached under her and they were nice and toasty so she had been on them all day. So I moved her into a specialy built broody enclosure I built a few years ago, I checked her yesterday and she is doing fine and still setting. The weird thing is she is still a pullet 6mo old and to my knowledge she's not even laying yet, and now she's broody

wierd Huh. anyway I always wanted a good broody Cornish I could depend on so we will see how she does

. Here is what I put her in to make her nice and comfy, it's 2 1/2' square X 18" high with a hinged lid.

She is now setting on 10 egg's all LF Cornish mostly WLR and Darks.

It is that box on that stand in the front corner.

It's really a nice little place for her to do her thing.

Maybe...(and I'm clearly no expert)...but maybe she's more like everyone else I know and just likes to sit and relaxafter their 3rd beer.

I just saw that too .............. When the box is not in use it doubles as a junk table. That pic must have been taken during this past summer when it was 100 and 40,000 degrees outside everyday. I do my chores after work and a cold Beer or 3 sure does make for easier work

It doesn't help that I put one of those little college fridges in the coop stuffed with my favorite libation.

Hey everbody, been having trouble getting online here for a while, think we have it worked out, I hope. Anyway, getting caught up here,

Al, It will be interesting to get the reaction to the unveiling of your birds at the Western National. I believe you will hold your own. But more importantly, when the old timers see that you are not right in a big way, I suspect you will be looked at in a new light. If you go to them with a sincere interest to learn, you might now be let in on some of the inside info, and knowledge, these folks have accumulated over the years.

Al.2, Dad had one of his good white hens bring off a brood of 6 late this summer. Which suprised the heck out of me, considering how heavy, and tight feathered they are.

Karl/Kolbey, these guys/gals have been on this thread much longer than I have, but welcome, and from my point of view, feel free to ask, or add, anywhere you feel the need.

Everytime I go to a big show like this it allways amazes me how much I get to visit and soak up all the good information. I find myself getting involved in all sorts of conversations where you get to hear all the pro's and con's of any particular Cornish subject and chickens in general. I personaly think it's why most of us go, we learn so much in a day of talking than you can in a year of raising. It's just a cool experience and I relish every December when it's showtime. It will be interesting to hear what the scuttlebutt is about this year LOL.
