A couple of shots of my two BLR project males from the big medicine project taken earlier this fall. I'm 95% certain the bluer one (bottom) is a carrier of the hidden white gene.

I have a young juvie bird here, that is looking quite maleish to me-- yet he's got lacing over his whole body, which should not be the case if he was from my Dark Cornish; which makes me think he's sired by the cock on top... I must say, he's probably one of my more compact body typed young guys, and has as much shank as anything I hatched this spring.

I intend to breed the bottom cock- back to his BLR daughters and to the poorer laced Dark Cornish daughters this winter.

The top cock will get mated to my WLR females, and will also be put to cover the general egg layer pen to try and figure out if he's a carrier of white.

I intend to run a pen or two of Darks, and a pen or two of whites in addtion... Have one more project going on--- a pair of full sibling blue laced blue Ameraucana x the bottom BLR Cornish... Cool birds, and suprisingly large bodied...

What's all in the breeding of these birds, they look pretty loose feathered.

Good white Cornish, Wyandotte, and Brahma. There can be considerable variation in feather hardness, and type, still.
I have some offspring from the trio I got from you, big med. These were all out of the Black Laced pair. I just culled 2 cockerels that were kind of on the more slender side and looser feathered. I held back the pullets and a cockerel. The cockerel is looking very Cornishy, the girls are looking more like Wyandottes. In fact, I am wondering if one is

I have yet to use the Splash Laced. I have started splitting up pens to get rid of extras so I can gauge better how much I have room for over winter. The SL looks very Cornish with longer legs. He is a big boy. The BL boy I culled when he started getting attitude. He also had a cushion comb, so that was carrying through. He dressed over 6-pounds though, so that was a good thing.
Here is the SL:

The only thing I don't like is that his legs are a bit posty and he walks like a Russian soldier. He has a good temperament though. I haven't used him at all, and I know he has been low on the pecking order with all the boys in the yard, but I will see how things go once I have him on his own with the girls. As you can see, he ended up with a pretty good comb, unlike the other two with cushion. I have some nice DC girls to put him in with now from spangledcornish. I have more of those than I need or want for the good DC breeding pen anyway, and rather than putting them in the freezer.....

for the purpose they'll serve-- loose feathers aren't all bad.

These are both from Big Medicine purchased hatching eggs.

Back on my Cornish-- the offspring will work, for anything other than show birds... but who cares about show birds?

Here re a few pics of he crosses I hatched out from Big Medicine. Luckily, I got 6 hens and 1roo From the dozen I got from him. It'll give me a nice sustainable meat flock. Really pretty to boot, love the lacing.
Here are a few of my hatches from big medicine. A gret start to my sustainable meat bird!

Was kinda sorting/takng inventory of this years youngsers yesterday. Way younger than a normal year.

A young splash laced cockerel that has potential, a lot of growing/filling out still to go.
