One of my White Cornish laid her first egg just in time to go in my incubator three weeks ago tomorrow, and that tiny little pullet egg hatched today!

Where has everyone gone?

My first Ameraucana X CX [commercial meaty] chick has hatched! I'm really looking forward to seeing what this cross grows in to. I also have breeder quality Cornish X Ameraucana crosses hatched and hatching, so will soon know how much meat those Cornish cockerels will add to an Ameraucana.

My Cornish crosses are growing nicely and beginning to show the "heart" shape from above. They were crossed with an AM/Marans Rooster, so I'm really excited - I know you must be!

(The Cornish X hatchery birds arrived - 50, so they are going into the freezer in about 6 weeks)

The white Cornish X are the broilers. I have "ONE" really nice Dark Cornish (the one I sent to my friend's house to breed with his Am/Marans - his bird has size and nice feathering) and a few hatchery Dark Cornish.

The hatchery Dark Cornish I inherited. Right now I don't have any cockerels or cock birds. I'm waiting to see if any of the three AM/Marans?Cornish that hatched, turn out to be cockerels, because they look very nice! I also have another which is looking pretty good, an Icleandic/Sussex cross, which is by far the biggest of the hatchlings. But at only 3.5 weeks, it's really hard to tell.

So far, we lost 3 (white) broilers to suicide, and one to getting trampled. Down to 48. But that's plenty for a year of food, specially since we raise bunnies and ducks and goats too!

You'll have to keep us all posted on how yours turns out - with pics if possible! In fact, you might want to take pics at different stage so you can keep track of them. But maybe you already do that.

I'm going to try and get new pics this weekend. Since we have so many young 'uns, its hard to hand tame them, so I need help with the photography. We also have a 'bator full of goose and duck eggs, not to mention the chicks in gathering room!

The mistaken egg - which hatched the same time as the chicks, must be a welsh Harlequin, since Muscovies take 5 weeks. How he fell through the cracks I don't know

If I had the space/pen I would. BUT, Himself is the farmer, and has eight pens ready for the CX and Muscovies he's rearing (his goal is 100 Muscovy ducks). I really don't think I could do a restricted feeding with just a couple of birds, it would mean a separate pen for them since the others free range and have food available at all times.

Plus, I'm getting ten ducklings next week . . .

I wonder if I can talk him into making just one more smallish run. . .!

Because I've been contacted by PM by those interested in buying Cornish hatching eggs, I see no reason to offer the few I can spare in the BST section. Please send me a PM if you want on the list for the next dozen, and I'll get back to you.

Well, my WC X DC crosses have not turned out as expected, all have hatched solid black so far, and even one white has black leaking. For that reason, I'm not shipping or offering to sell any hatching eggs until I see how some more hatch out, as I think they might be priced too high according to what I see on the first few to hatch. On the other hand, a solid black, large fowl Cornish of good quality might be interesting. for me.
