Me again. Is it true that a red light will keep them calmer while laying

I have never heard of that in all of my chicken keeping experience. I do know that chickens can see all colors of light.... so I'm sticking around to find out!

I don’t think that’s true. Chickens like a dark, private place to lay. There is no reason for them to be stressed while laying - it’s nature and what they live for.

It can actually cause strife and agitation in a coop, if it's left on all the time.

That idea might come from using a heat lamps with chicks,
Since the light is on 24/7 a red light is 'calmer' than a white light.
