I read somewhere that goats can't eat red maple, does that mean everything? The leaves, bark, branches? Is it true! Have you had experience with goats and red maple?

All my maple trees this year, and they are all different kinds, have gotten the red autumn leaves, this is due to the weather this past month. I'm wondering if the article you read was talking about the Red Maple instead of sugar maple trees that turn red colors in the autumn.

It might be similar to horses in that maple or oak (it’s bad I can’t remember which one) is extremely toxic and can shut down their kidneys. Best to play it safe and keep your goats away from any maples.

Well we have sugar maples too.

Personally, I would be more concerned about the goats killing the maples than the maples killing the goats. Given a chance, goats will strip the bark off trees. However, if goats are well fed they are less likely to try to eat things that are not good for them.
