Hi people, i had a look through my broody chickens feathers today and found a few small mites crawling around. I then check another one and found the same. I am guessing the're red mite. I have the dusting powder already but this is my first time with mites. Can i have some advise on the best way to clean down the hutch? I was thinking of cleaning right out, hoovering. disinfecting, boiling water. then powder once dry. (along with doing the birds)

Any advise would be most helpful.

Here is a thread where I was telling someone about mite treatment- hope it helps!

For your hutch, I would just toss the bedding and dust it as well. Put new bedding in and you are fine. Make sure you get the cracks of the coop with a premise spray or dust them really well. It is also good to treat the underside of the roosts as well.

Treat your chickens also, repeating at 7 days, and again at 14 days if you also have lice.
