Hi!
I bought my first ducks today! The lady who sold them said they were red muscovies. I'm thinking they may the the "bronze" ones? I don't know. They're both females, about a month old. They both look like pictures I found of muscovy ducklings, so i'm thinking they're the correct breed. Is there any special care they'll need? I know adult ducks enjoy ponds, pools..etc, which isn't a problem.

Congratulations! You're going to love them. I don't know about colors. Mine were hatched on Easter and I think they are chocolate and two blue fawn, but I don't know yet. I don't know how to tell the sex this early either. I have one big, one little and one sort of in between. Hoping for one male and two females.

Sometimes Chocolates are called Red's, I have heard it a couple times but from people who didn't know much about the breed or colors. Maybe they're a diluted/light chocolate though?

Muscovies are not usually as nuts for pools and ponds as the other domestic ducks are (they use them for mating while the muscovy will mate on water or land). the muscovy will often spend the night on a branch of a tree while other domestic ducks won't.

my Great Aunt had them when I was growing up...could they be the chocolate ones that look like that when they are younger?
