Red, raw cockerel neck

If you have a cat carrier they work great for transporting Chickens too.
AND If you catch the Roo the night before you go to the vet he will be easy to just pluck off the roost after he goes in for the night.

Good Luck! Hope he is better soon. If you take him in keep us posted.
Yes I will give an update about what goes on. And I agree they are much easier to work with in the dark, that’s how I get meds, nail trimming, etc done!

I haven’t yet tried Green Goo on his neck, started that tonight. Will see how it goes, fingers crossed!

UPDATE: Even though I didn’t see mites, I treated with Eprinex on birds and Poultry Protection spray on roosts and nest boxes. 2nd treatment will be on Sat.
After trying neosporin, honey, and Green Goo, there wasn’t much of a change, so I took Cosmo to the bird vet. He thought it was due to the hens pecking at his red neck and plucking feathers. Cosmo got an anti inflammatory/ pain med injection and I was told to put pine tar on neck to help discourage pecking. Just put it on once so far, so will have to update more in a few days.
In the mean time, I wanted to cover his neck so he can keep the feathers he does have left. Everything I tried he has gotten off. Anyone have ideas for a way to cover his neck, but loosely so he can still crow??
