Red Sex Link Hen Having Goopy Vent Problems

I only did the ACV in the vent one time, just a small syringe full (can't remember exact dosage but it wasn't much). Every other day for about a week I gave her 1 T of ACV just to eat as well. Possibly, her body got rebalanced with probiotics and pH and fixed itself. However, since it's only been one day of no goop, and I've heard that vent gleet can come and go, I'll hold off on saying we're completely out of the woods.

Well I hope you are, even though my bantam still has it and I have done every thing but the ACV up the vent, She does seem to be doing better. More active, eating good. I think the stress of living in a small rabbit hut with 2 other hens and a very sex driven roo brought hers on, so maybe she'll eventually get over it now that she has freedom to move around, sunshine and hopefully less stress. I am hoping so anyway. Also I read that a mild Iodine solution may help.

Yep, we're back to goopy

ah well. Maybe I will try the iodine solution...
I've done the iodine only using as a soak and also spray on the outside of the vent. I mixed it with water till it looked like weak tea. So far nothing i have done has helped, She does look some better though doesn't seem to be as much on her vent. she gets sprayed in the morning with Veterycin and in the evenings with Oxine ah to clean her up good. I give ACV in drinking water daily and they have been getting thawed peas, yogurt and steamed mashed up duck eggs with shell every other day [Ihave ducks too] So I think as long as my hen isn't showing worsening symptoms I am just going to leave her alone for now and see if it will clear up on its own. I hope you begin to see improvement in your hen soon also. She is young but of laying age but hasn't been laying either which maybe for the good just added stress she doesn't need right now.

I say just keep doing the ACV in the water ( 2 TBS per gallon). My vet says it will work but just takes time. Its a long process.
My flock has had ACV in their water for years but I only did 1 tab to 1 gall. just started adding 2to 1 gal since i got this hen so hopefully after a while it will clear up,. I have noticed a small improvement. T.theL.

My vet said the more you can put in there, the better. You just have to find the point where the aren't repulsed by the taste of the water and refuse to drink.

I've been giving the flock of 6 about 2T of ACV in with their bread and treats every day for about a month now, but still no progress on the vent issues. Maybe I'll add more? They seem to love as much as I can give them.
