My Red Star recently had diarrhea, but I managed to treat her successfully and she has largely recovered. Now her bottom is going bald but why?? Noticed the same thing on a smaller scale around her head. She is a bit lethargic, not really taking care of herself and doesn't have the appetite she used to have. No signs of discomfort (from ticks/lice etc).

Their egg laying rate has gone down, so I assume she's one of the ones not laying.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

I had this last year

my RED Star stopped laying and lost head and vent feathers

I don't know if she carried on laying as I never trap nested them but I assume she did resume as the egg count seemed the right amount

this year after her molt she looks beautiful and fully feathered again

don't worry about it it might be a mini moult or a premature moult
