Is $6 a hen a good price? A person close by me is selling them at this price.

usually hens are only two to three dollers,so youd be getting it at double,maybe triple the amount you could get it at another place like a factory,but if you really want one then id go for it!

That's what i was thinking... I am just so excited to get some chickens, I want to start from eggs or chicks, but kinda late in the season here...or so some locals are telling me...

Yoko, i think the OP was asking "what is a 'point of lay' hen", not what is the point of laying hens.
